Dr. Merrick is the Director of the Athletic Training Division in the School of Allied Medical Professions. He is a nationally respected researcher and speaker on the topics of therapeutic modalities and injury pathophysiology. His work in these areas has earned him both the Outstanding Research Manuscript Award and Outstanding Non-Research Manuscript Award from the Journal of Athletic Training. He serves as an Editor for the Pathology, Physiology, and Biodynamics section of the Journal of Athletic Training, a member of the editorial board the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation and a guest reviewer for 7 other journals. He is also the a member of the NATA Foundation's Reseach Committee where he serves as the Vice-Chair for Grants.
