Dr. Walter Chwals is a pediatric trauma surgeon who takes care of children at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, OH. He is also a Professor at the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, teaching medical students and supervising their practice with patients. Dr. Chwals does research on nutrition in newborns who have had surgery, pediatric trauma, and gastrointestinal disorders in children. He has published articles in journals like the Journal of Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Neurosurgery. He went to medical school at the Copernicus Medical Academy in Krakow, Poland at (University), and graduated with his MD. Dr. Chwals is certified by the American Board of Surgery in Pediatric Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He belongs to the American Trauma Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics - Surgical Section, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine, among other organizations. Dr. Chwals is the Medical Director of the Rainbow Community Safety and Resource Center at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, OH.
