Pat is the parent of three sons, two of whom have autism spectrum disorders-- one low functioning and one high functioning. Ohio State's Nisonger Center is both a Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and a Leadership Education Excellence in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) site. In the LEND program, she provides a family perspective on developmental disabilities and advocacy issues in graduate seminars and in interdisciplinary clinical settings. She has presented on Asperger Syndrome, parental involvement in special education planning, transition issues for families of young adults with disabilities, and postsecondary education and autism spectrum disorders.
