Ileana L. Piña, MD, received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami in 1976, Internal Medicine Residency at the University of South Florida and Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Miami in 1982. Dr. Piña joined the faculty of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1999 as Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology. Currently she sees patients and is the VA Quality Scholar at the Lewis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland, OH. Dr. Piña is currently a member of the Executive Council and Care Standards Committee of the Heart Failure Society of America, Chairperson for the American Heart Association in the capacity of Heart Failure and Transplantation of the Council on Clinical Cardiology. She is Vice Chair for the Heart Failure Committee in the capacity of Heart Failure & Transplantation, an advocate Reviewer for the Circulation; a Journal of the American Heart Association. She is past Chair of the Council on Cardiovascular Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention of the World Heart Federation, and a past member of the Cardio-Renal Advisory Committee of the Food & Drug Administration.
