Conor P. Delaney, MD, PhD, is Chief of the Division of Colorectal Surgery and Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He is also Professor of Surgery and Director of the Institute for Surgery and Innovation at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. |
Dr. Delaney holds a Master of Surgery and PhD degree from the University College Dublin in Ireland. His postgraduate education included an internship at Mater Misericordiae Hospital and residency at the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, also in Ireland. He completed fellowships at the Royal College of Surgeons, University of Pittsburgh, and the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Delaney has received numerous prizes, scholarships and awards over the course of his career in training, education and research. He is a member and serves on administrative committees of many professional societies, serves on the editorial board of several journals, and is the founder and past-president of the International Society of Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery.
Dr. Delaney has given numerous lectures nationally and internationally and has published books and in peer-reviewed on topics relating to surgical education, colorectal surgery, laparoscopic colorectal surgery and peri-operative care for intestinal surgery.
Dr. Delaney’s clinical interests include laparoscopic colorectal surgery, carcinoma of the colon, rectum and anus; Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, sphincter-saving surgery, re-operative abdominal surgery and colonoscopy. His research interests include various aspects of colorectal surgery, cost-efficiency in surgery, and operative training methodology.
