Burning Urethra After Urinating, No Bacteria

Question: For the past 6 months I have had frequent UTI symptoms..every time I go to the Doctors my urinalysis comes back clean (no blood, no bacteria). I have been on antibiotics about 9 times and it just keeps coming back. Most of the time the burning happens withing seconds after urinating and doesn`t stop . . .
Answer: Urinary tract infection is defined by symptoms and also urine culture and analysis. Symptoms do suggest infection but tests do not support the disease. You need to see specialist such as a urologist or gynecologist.
Ask an Expert: Ahmad Hamidinia MD, Urinary Disorders

Question: Presently I have all the classic symptoms of BPH and am considering having a turp procedure. My urologist also agrees that I should have a turp, however I have read extensively about bleeding problems occurring post op. My question is, as I am taking blood thinners for atrial fibrillation, is t . . .
Answer: There are some newer vaporization technologies that may be options for you while on blood thinners, however the blood thinners will still raise your risk of bleeding even with these procedures. You should discuss some of these newer vaporization techniques with your urologist.
Ask an Expert: Lee Ponsky MD, Urinary Disorders

Soreness after passing 3mm kidney stone

Question: I went to the ER due to severe right flank, back and right testicle pain. I had back aches the previous week so I was going to my chiro for that. At the ER a CT scan revealed a 3mm stone moving down the tube from my right kidney. Everything else in abdomen/pelvic ct was normal. 5 days . . .
Answer: After a stone passes, the pain may last for several days. You should continue to get better. It would be worth following up with your doctor. It may be worth checking to see if you are at increased risk to form another stone and what measures you can take to prevent stone recurrence.
Ask an Expert: Donald Bodner MD, Urinary Disorders

Lower Belly Pain and Urge to Urinate

Question: Hello, occasionally I will feel like I want to urinate but there is nothing left and I feel pain in my lower belly and have the urge to urinate and go and sit on the toilet every five minutes until the urge/pain goes away, i`ve had this since i was a teenager and it doesn`t happen very oft . . .
Answer: I am uncertain the exact etiology of your symptoms. Mild inflammation of the urethra or prostate can give similar symptoms and can reoccur. I would suggest that you be seen and examined by a urologist.
Ask an Expert: Donald Bodner MD, Urinary Disorders
