Question: is it alright to take cacium supplements if you have althrosclorosis and heart desease? is it the same type of calcium that gets buit up in the arteries?

Answer: It is better to take combination products that contain 1000 mg of Calcium carbonate 500 mg of magnesium oxide with 400 IU of Vitamin D3 per serving.
Strong Odor in Urine

Question: I am 73 years old and about a month ago I noticed a strong ammonia odor in my urine. My bladder has dropped and I wonder if that has anything to do with the odor. Also I drink 2 cans regular Pepsi every day and very little water. As of yesterday I am not drinking any Pepsi and more water. Hopefu . . .
Answer: There are a number of reasons why you might develop an ammonia odor to your urine. Perhaps the most common reason is due to not drinking enough water and becoming dehydrated. Ideally, you should be drinking at least 8 cups of water each day -- enough water so that your urine is clear and not yello . . .
Ask an Expert: W.
Petroleum Jelly for Skin

Question: I am 30 years old. I have a very dry skin where normal good brand moisturizers sometimes never work. Because of this I have wrinkles on my face. I`ve heard from someone that applying petrolium jelly will work for skins like mine. I`ve never heard this before and I am concerned about how safe it coul . . .
Answer: Thank you for visiting NetWellness. Petroleum products always disfigure and darken the skin, so they are not good for such use. Extra virgin olive oil applied and wiped off twice a day is better.
Ask an Expert: Glen Aukerman MD, DABFP, Wellness Center
