REGROWTH OF TONSILS

11/28/1999

Question:

What is the technical name for the regrowth of tonsil tissue AFTER surgical removal of the tonsils?

Answer:

As far as I know, there is no specific name for this condition. Tonsils usually don`t really regrow, however, even the most complete tonsillectomy can often leave a small bit of tonsil tissue behind. If this tissue becomes enlarged, (hypertrophic), it can appear that the tonsils have regrown.
