I am currently taking Paxil ,20 mg a day . How many milligrams a day can a person take ? I am wondering how long this drug will work and how high the dosage can be raised .
The high dosage would depend on your age (older patients have more side effects and are more often on other medications leading to interactions) and the way you tolerate the drug. I have patients on up to 40 mg a day who tolerate it well and have good results in terms of control of depression.
