Smoking clinics

Question:

All data indicates that nicotine is more addictive than cocaine or herion. why then are there no detox centers ? Also in this age of medical advances why must smoking cessation be a self help project? Do you think anyone would choose to smoke with the new data out.

Answer:

These are excellent questions! One reason there are no detox centers for nicotine addiction is that insurance coverage for any inpatient detox program is extremely limited. However, nicotine replacement therapy with gum or patch is very effective, especially when combined with a behavioral program like those offered by American Cancer Society, American Heart Assoc, and American Lung Association.
