Arm Pain when I sneeze

08/25/2000

Question:

Everytime I sneeze, a pain shoots down both arms to the point that I can hardly move. Most times I have to sit still for about 30 seconds until the pain subsides. Its almost paralyzing. Im sure this is is quite common but I would like to know what causes this and if there is something I can do about it.

Answer:

If you are sneezing alot, you should see your doctor or an allergist who can treat you to stop the sneezing. Sneezing and/or coughing alot can be associated with musculoskeletal pain which you might be experiencing. However, it is not common for people who sneeze to get sharp pains down their arms. I suggest you see your physician for further evaluation and treatment.
