Myasthenia Gravis and marijuana

11/27/2000

Question:

Can a person smoke marijuana to help to go to sleep even if he has MG?

Answer:

Marijuana is not a good agent for induction of sleep and may be harmful when abused. If you have a sleep problem you should discuss it with your physician to find an appropriate cause and treatment. For sleep disorders marijuana could worsen the problem.
