Parkinson's Disease

Fatigue.

12/10/2000

Question:

Is Vitamin B12 recommended to combat fatigue in a person with Parkinsons? If not, any other suggestions.

Answer:

The only specific indication for vitamin B12 shots is a documented vitamin B12 deficiency diagnosed by blood tests.

Fatigue in PD has many causes: too much medication, too little medication, medication side effects. A thorough review and adjustment of medication would be more useful than nonspecific attempts to treat the fatigue with vitamin B12 or other vitamins.
