Orthodontics during pregnancy12/11/2000 |
Are there any risks when you have braces and are pregnant?
There have not been any reported risks to a pregnancy as the result of placing or treating patients with orthodontic appliances ( braces). The concern comes in the beginning during the first trimester when radiographs ( x-rays ) should be avoided. Radiographs are an essential part of the diagnosis and treatment planning. With modern equipment and the future use of digital radiography these risks are even further minimized.
