Breast Cancer |
CANCER LIFE SPAN05/10/2001 |
HELLO I M WORKING ON MY FINAL PROJECT ON BREAST CANCER AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS YOUR LIFE SPAN IF YOU HAVE BREAST CANCER HOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE TO BE DESTRUCTIVE
Breast cancer death rates are decreasing primarily for white women and younger women. Even though white women develop breast cancer more frequently that women of other races, black women are most likely to die of the disease. Overall, African Americans are about 33% more likely to die of breast cancer than are whites. In the year 2000, there were an estimated 184,200 new breast cancer cases and 42,000 deaths. The length of time a woman lives after being diagnosed with breast cancer depends on many factors. To name a few are: the stage of the cancer, the type of cancer cell, the treatment, and the general health of the person. At this time, the stage of the primary breast cancer at diagnosis remains the most important determinant of survival. Women with cancer that has spread outside of the breast have less of a life span. But breast cancer that is confined to the breast without lymph node involvement may have as high as a 95% cure with treatment. You need to research what the stages of breast cancer are at the library or other cancer resources and then apply statistics of survival in each stage.
Good luck with your project.
