False positive for syphilis12/26/2001 |
Hello! I just recieved my blood test results in the mail the other day. It told me that I tested "false positive" for syphilis...can you give me any information that would help me to understand exactly what "false positive" means in this case? Thanks greatly!
False positive tests for syphilis occur in about 2% of cases. They can occur due to a variety of conditions including auto-immune disorders(SLE),intravenous drug users, chronic liver disease or HIV infection.
