HIV and AIDS
What Race Or Sex Is AIDS Predominate In?
What race or sex is AIDs more common in?
AIDS is an `equal opportunity` disease-- it infects men and women, and people of all races and backgrounds. In the US, there are still more men than women with AIDS because the disease was largely introduced here by men who have sex with men. In the developing world, men and women are infected in equal numbers, because there it is primarily a heterosexually transmitted disease. In the US, blacks and Hispanics are infected at rates higher than the rate for whites. Again, this reflects the paths the HIV virus took in this country, and is not due to any biologic difference between these minority populations and whites.
