LGV - transmission06/26/2002 |
If I have LGV and was unaware of it, what are the possibilities that I have passed it along to my 2 children. I haven`t had sexual contact with them but i do change diapers and wipe bums.
Lymphogranuloma Venereum or LGV is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. As long as purulent drainage from ulcers or buboes of LGV is not transferred to the skin or genital areas of children undergoing diaper changes, there should be no risk of transmission to children. Newborns can catch Chlamydia trachomatis infections, usually in the form of neonatal inclusion conjunctivitis or infant pneumonia. Both of these infections are acquired during passage through an infected birth canal.
