African American and Asthma Medication

Question:

Can you tell me if the chemicals in asthma medication remains at higher levels in the bodies of African Americans than White Americans, such as flovent.

Answer:

 There is no data that shows African Americans metabolized inhaled corticosteroids such as flovent differently than Caucasians. There are differences in metabolism between individuals depending on whether they are slow or fast acetylators but this is not necessarily racially influenced.
