Bornholm`s Disease (primarily under rib and sternum area)--how is this diagnosed (please be as specific as possible)
thanks
Bornholm`s Disease is one name for a syndrome usually called pleurodynia (or possibly epidemic pleurodynia. The name itself literally means -pleura- rib or side and -dynia- pain. This is essentially a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning that other causes of pain have been eliminated, so there are no specifics of diagnosis other than the correct type of pain, in the right spot without other cause. The best diagnosis comes from the clinical experience of your or your child`s physician, and they are best suited to discuss the specifics of your case and how they arrived at that diagnosis.
