Heart Rate v. BP

10/08/2002

Question:

My blood pressure is 102/68. Heart rate is 83bpm. Is the heart rate high?

Answer:

Keep in mind that one`s heart rate fluctuates for a number of reasons including temperature, anxiety, exercise, stress, eating, smoking, drinking coffee, time of day, and body position. The average resting heart rate for adults is 60 to 80 beats per minute, with the average resting heart rate for women typically 7 to 10 beats per minute higher than that of men.
