Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

The Medication for ADHD

10/18/2002

Question:

Hello,Sir,I would like to know what kind of medicine can be used in ameliorating the behavior of a child who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder? What is the curing focus of the medicine and its aftereffects?

Answer:

If you go into the archives and check out my answer to this weeks question you will find most of your answer. There is currently no known cure for the neurological changes that go along with ADHD. When medicine is suggested is is generally to help make up for a below normal level of the chemicals needed to stimulate things like attention and impulse control in areas that are significantly and negatively effecting the person`s life activities. I am unsure what you mean by `aftereffect`. If you can be more specific I would be glad to answer as best I can.
