What kind of treatment do I need since my m.d. has said I have borderline osteoporosis?
Physicians use the term borderline osteoporosis in many different ways. It is common to recommend treatment when the bone density scores are -2.0 standard deviations and lower compared to the young, healthy population. Above that treatment would depend on a person`s risk factors. For many, adequate calcium, vitamin D, exercise, not smoking and avoiding excessive thinness may suffice.
