Hi my mother in law is 50 years old. she is a heart patient and also has undergone kemotherapy for breast cancer and now suffering from osteoporosis. Her doctor says she cannot take calcium because of her heart problem. Is there any kind of treatment available for osteoporosis that can be taken in this kind of case?
She could discuss with her physician the option of a bisphosphonate such as Actonel or Fosamax. Also important is adequate vitamin D (400 IU/day).
