Sodium Levels and the Progression of Alzheimer's Disease11/26/2002 |
My father is 81 and has had multiple mini strokes. His neurologist has said he could have Alzheimer's disease. Recently, he has had more mini strokes. He had been extremely tired before the MRI showed two new mini strokes. In the hospital, his sodium level dropped dramatically. What could cause this? He took a fall also, and he had a bleed into his brain. Could medication cause the sodium level to drop. Could the fall have caused it?
The situation you describe with your father`s medical condition certainly sounds complex and we understand your need for understanding what is happening. However, your question is very specific and complicated and we cannot provide specific personal medical information to individuals through this site. Your questions and concerns really need to be discussed with your father`s medical doctor who would be the best person to give a specific cause and help you understand the situation better.
