What does skeletal immaturity mean?
03/31/2003 |
Question:
I am a nurse and I saw a report of an X-ray of a knee that said “some skeletal immaturity”. What does this mean? Thank you.
Answer:
Usually the term “skeletal immaturity” is used in reference to growth plates of children or adolescents that have not fully matured or “closed.” It is a normal finding in the x-rays of young people.
