Cortisone Shot Reaction

04/24/2003

Question:

I had a cortisone shot in my hip yesterday. Today I have a very red face. It feels very warm. I read a question about this, but in your answer you said it would go away. How long will it take to do so?

Answer:

Flushing is an adverse reaction which can last as long as several days. With a depo steroid injection the medication stays around as long as two weeks. It should subside over this time. If not see your physician or you may need to see an allergist.
