Lupus - Test Accuracy

05/21/2003

Question:

I`ve been tested for Lupus but tests are negative. However, I have most of the symtoms of lupus. If your tests are negative (ANA, SED normal, etc.)does that mean you don`t have Lupus for sure?

Answer:

The ANA can be normal in Lupus but this is unusual possibly occurring in only 2% of cases and usually in persons with a skin rash.
