Breast Cancer

Burning Sensation under left armpit

06/09/2003

Question:

I am having a burning sensation-sometimes sporatic shooting pain under left armpit radiating into left breast. No lumps found. Post Menopausal. Not taking hormone replacement. Please advise.

Answer:

Thank you for your question. Any symptoms or changes in your breast need medical attention. Make an appointment with your physician for an assessment of these sensations. A mammogram will be ordered if you have not had one in the last year. What you describe may not be a serious problem but you need to know for sure.
