How High Does PSA have to be for a Biopsy?07/11/2003 |
How high does a PSA have to be to justify a biopsy?
If the PSA is greater than 4.0, most urologists will recommend a biopsy. Occasionally, if there is a rapid change (for instance a doubling within a year), many will also recommend a biopsy even though the value may be less than 4.0. I hope this answers your question.
