Herniated S-1 Disk prognosis07/30/2003 |
I have been diagnosed with L4-5 Disk Bulge & S-1 Herniated disk with impingement of S1 nerve root. I just finished a meddose pack of predisolone and started phys. therapy. Symptoms are slightly better. Therapist stated that this condition can eventually heal itself. Is this true or am I going to have pain/tingling forever???
This condition will significantly improve in 8 out of 10 people with nonoperative treatment. If such improvement does not occur with 3-6 months of onset of symptoms, then request further evaluation by a spine specialist.
