Jogging and thrombophlebitis07/31/2003 |
I am 55, am not overweight, and have been jogging for several years. Recently I have had a problem with superficial blood clots (thrombophlebitis) in one leg. (I have a genetic clotting factor: Leiden factor V). Is it okay to continue jogging or would walking be a better exercise choice for me? I want to keep good circulation but wonder about the impact of jogging. Thanks
I recommend discussing this question with your personal physician. I understand that treatment of individuals with Factor V Leiden is very specific to the individual and is best handled by their personal physician.
