Blood and discharge in the semen02/04/2004 08:45AM |
I`m 53 years old. For the last 15 months, I had frequently noticed blood and discharge in my semen. I consulted a urologist and did many lab and x-rays and the like. I was told that I have a mildly enlarged prostate and that I should not worry about the blood in the semen, rather I must take cardura all the time (one a day).In fact, I stopped the cardura since many months, and I am very worried about the blood and I have no problems with my urine although not as normal as in younger age.
Please, your advice will be helpful and highly appreciated by me.
Blood in the ejaculate is not uncommon and the etiology is not clear. It is not associated with malignancy. I typically treat patients with an antibiotic for several weeks and in most instances the situation clears. You may want to discuss this with your physician.
