Would Lactobacillus and Garlic Use Contradict Each Other?

04/06/2004

Question:

Would garlic and Lactobacillus antibiotics work against each other if I am taking both?

Answer:

That`s a very good question, and one that has not been answered yet in the literature. There is evidence that garlic can inhibit the growth of lactobacillus. Whether this is clinically significant is unknown. It MAY be wise to take lactobacillus (at a different time) with garlic to overcome the inhibition garlic may have on your natural lactobacillus. But more research needs to be done to answer this question with confidence!
