Thank you for your anwser. It is the Carotid artery, a major one inside the net. Hope you can solve this mistory.
The carotid artery is in the neck and one of 4 major arteries that feeds the brain. You do not mention if the woman was in the hospital when this happened, as it is possible there may have been rupture with bleeding at the time of a procedure, i.e., placement of a large IV in the neck for monitoring purposes. If not, rupture of the carotid artery can occur if there is an aneurysm present. This is a ballooning of the artery that develops over many years. If left untreated it can rupture, bleed , and lead to death if untreated.
