Boils and 4-year-old

07/16/2004

Question:

trying to get more information becoz my 4yrs old keep on getting boil a lot its very bothering to her and me to see her always like having a pain .so please give us good suggestion. thanks.

Answer:

If in fact your 4 year old is having multiple boils she should be seen by her pediatrician and/or a pediatric dermatologist.  From your presentation it suggests that she may have a chronic infection with Staph aureus.  This needs medical attention -- culture of not only your daughter but of you and other members of the family to be certain that you are not "carriers of Staph".  Your pediatric dermatologist, pediatrician, and pediatric infectious disease specialist can help you determine the reason for the recurrence and proper care.
