Earliest fetal gender determination11/22/2004 |
What is the earliest fetal gender determination during the pregnancy?
Using ultrasound the earliest you could distinguish gender is about 14 weeks but it is unreliable. Using chorionic villus sampling (CVS) you can determine the gender as early as 11 weeks. CVS carries distinct risks and is used only to determine gender when there is a concern of a dangerous genetic defect seen in males.
