Body fat01/14/2005 |
I joined a fitness center and had a fitness profile done that included a body fat analysis by calipers. I am a 52 year old woman and my body fat came out at 21.6%. Is that a good body fat for me or should I try to get it lower. Thank you.
The Body Composition Percent Body Fat Standard Values for your age group (Women age 50-59) are as follows:
- High: <18
- Above Average: 19-22
- Average: 23-31
- Below Average: 32-34
- Low: 35>
This is from Jackson, AS, Pollock,ML, and Ward, A: Generalized equations fro predicting body density of women, Med Sci Sports Exerc. 12:175-182, 1980.
It looks like you are right where you need to be. Hope this helps.
