Bacterial Meningitis Haemophilus nontypeable03/21/2005 |
My 4 year old son was diagnosed with Bacterial Meningitis (Haemophilus nontypeable). Is this type of bacteria only capable of being spread via person-to-person contact or can another infection such as an UTI predispose a child to developing Meningitis?
The non-typeable Haemophilus species are not spread human to human. This organism is usually found in the mouth and the pharynx. It does not cause urinary tract infections and is not found in the bladder. There are no known predisposing conditions.
