Thrush and gum erosion

02/17/2005 02:49PM

Question:

can an ongoing yeast infection cause gum erosion? My doctor gave me diflucan pills and my gums seemed to get much better. But now the redness and soreness seem to have reappeared. I wake up in the morning with white patches on my gums that come off when I brush my teeth but it leaves behind deep holes that are very painful. I keep my teeth very clean. Where should I go from here?

Answer:

I would see an oral pathologist.  The American Dental Association Directory at http://www.ada.org/public/disclaimer.asp will help you locate one in your area.
