Small pimples05/16/2005 |
My husband has a small itchy spot on his back below his shoulder blade, its has small pimples and discoloration below the skin. He says it itches mowt of the time, also he has roscea. Any sugestions? Thanks.
SUBJECT: Small Pimples
The history that you give of small itchy spots below the shoulder blades on the back suggests folliculitis which is an infection of hair follicles. It can also be associated with some medications and some fungi. In order to be precise, your husband should be evaluated by a board certified dermatologist who may ask to biopsy the skin and/or do cultures to determine the precise cause of the problem. The itching is not diagnostic but is frequently associated with inflammatory and/or infectious lesions of the skin. Clearly a dermatologist review is indicated.
