Bluish Black gums
My gums are bluish black up around three crowns on my bottom back teeth? I can`t find anything on this anywhere. Any ideas what is causing this?
Crowns are generally metal-ceramic meaning a metal structure covered with ceramic layer. If your gums (gingiva) are thin enough, metal color can be seen through the soft tissue. Coloring of the soft tissue can be also due to previous amalgam filling materials used to treat decays on these teeth (we called them tattoo). If your crowns are old and you noticed the coloring recently please visit your dentist. There may be other problems related to your health of your gums or restorations that one has to examine clinically to differentiate.
