Homosexual Transmission of HIV

Can the same sex give each other HIV if they don`t have it? Can someone give the other person the virus if either one does have the disease or can they get it that way?

In order for HIV to be transmitted between two sexual partners, one of the partners must have the infection to begin with.  It can be spread between partners of the same sex (homosexually) or between partners of different gender (heterosexually).
