Gray blue lump in arm

10/13/2005

Question:

I am a 19 year old male in college. I have a gray blue lump about the size of a bean on my inner forearm about 6 inches from my wrist. It is kind of hard. I`ve had it about 11/2 weeks, it seemed to get a little smaller once but is now back to bean size and only hurts if I press on it.Any ideas?

Answer:

This sounds like a prominent vein. Sometimes the vein can become injured such that the walls thicken making it firm and mobile. I would have your primary care or student health physician examine it to be sure it is a benign processĀ  like it sounds from your description
