Is making a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, rubbing it into the gums still considered a no-no in the treatment of gum disease?
Yes...It is not recommended. This is mainly due to uncontrolled erosion/abrasion of tooth structure and soft tissue trauma. It generally causes de-epithelization (the superficial layer covering the gums is traumatized and separated from underlying connective tissue). It also causes sensitive teeth and gums due to similar reasons if used for a longer period.
