who is most at risk to get hemophilia?
Hemophilia is an inherited condition that is present at birth. It is usually passed to males from their mother. Therefore, those most likely to have it are the sons of women who carry the hemophilia gene.
About 1 of 3 males who have hemophilia have no family history. They have hemophilia because of a mutation, or change, in one of their genes or their mothers genes before they are born.
