Epilepsy & cataplexy01/18/2006 |
How common is it to develop epilepsy after you have been suffering with severe cataplexy for three years? These are severe epileptic seizures as well.
It is unusual to have both conditions. Cataplexy is a much rarer condition than epilepsy. One possibility is that the cataplectic attacks may actually have been seizures. Seizure monitoring is a diagnostic test that might be able to determine if the cataplexy is actually a seizure. I would discuss this with your health care provider.
