Benzoyl Peroxide vs Retin-A01/18/2006 |
What is the difference between Benzoyl Peroxide and Retin-A type products? Don`t they both unclog pores?
Benzoyl Peroxide and the topical retinoids work in very different manners. Benzoyl Peroxide is an antibacterial agent with a broad spectrum of suppression of bacteria and pustule formation. Retinoids on the other hand, do change the way in which skin cells shed and their use allows the follicles and pores to empty more correctly. They are used as complimentary materials in acne.
