Gum laceration in 14 month old02/08/2006 |
My 14 month old fell and cut the gum above one of his top front teeth (which are not all the way out yet). It bled a lot but then looked like it would heal fine. The next day I noticed that the gum was splitting right above his tooth and for days it continued to split open. Now his tooth is exposed above his gumline. Our dentist seems to think it is fine but I still worry. It doesn`t make for a pretty smile. Will the gum grown back? What will happen as his tooth continues to come out? Will it start exposing the roots?
It is not possible to comment on this without examining your child. It is always a good idea to get a second or even third opinion if you have concerns about your child's health. I recommend that you see a pediatric dentist in your area.
