Does HIV Survive In Shaving Cream?02/18/2006 |
Does HIV survive if exposed to shaving cream? I used a shaving cream which I believe had been exposed to HIV contaminated blood 10-15 minutes before my use. During shaving, I took some cuts. Two days later I developed a headache and a dry cough which lasted for 10 days. Please tell me what are my chances of contracting HIV in this way.
There is a finite risk of acquiring infection when one is exposed to visible HIV contaminated blood. I do not believe that shaving cream contains ingredients that can harm this virus in anyway. In order to be sure you would need to be tested in 1, 3 and 6 months.
